The goal of this phase is to use student work to reflect and to inform revisions to instruction, the feedback tool, and the assessment task.
Assessment is an iterative process so this phase is both an end and a beginning--a time to reflect and feed forward. Above all, it is critical to emphasize an asset orientation to the work.
This phase consists of three steps.
Reflect on Assessment Findings: Synthesize claims about your students’ 3D understanding and identify challenges across prompts.
Use student work to reflect on assessment design: Notice the opportunities created for students to use the targeted dimensions to make sense of the phenomenon in relation to what students demonstrated in terms of strengths and areas for growth.
Now what?: Look across your reflections. Determine possible reasons for what was observed and develop actionable steps that build upon identified strengths and address identified areas for growth.
‘Catch yourself’ when you find yourself falling into a deficit orientation.
Offer grace for you and your students as you all learn and assess in new ways.
