Phase 5: Develop a Coherent Storyline
The goal of this phase is to construct a storyline that scaffolds students’ sensemaking and ensures that the phenomenon drives the assessment.
Phase 5 Guidance
The storyline is a way to plan a coherent task from the student perspective from beginning to end. Think of it like planning a story with a beginning (the scenario), middle (sensemaking), and an end (explaining the phenomenon).
Leverage your thinking about information and observations captured Phase 3C.
Wear your student hat to really think through what learners need in order to make sense of the phenomenon.

Tips
Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good progress. This is just to get some ideas out on the table and see how the task might flow and recognize if you have all the big pieces students will need to figure it out.
