11:40-12:40 PM: Choosing Phenomena for Standards-Based Assessments that Connect to Students’ Interests and Community Priorities, Room 391

Inspired by A Framework for K-12 Science Education (NRC, 2012), our project was developed to support rural secondary science teachers in adopting "five-dimensional" assessment practices that explicitly attend to students' interests and identities.

Our Tools

We designed a suite of tools to support teachers in developing 5D assessments and combined them into one easy to use 5D Assessment Development Tool.

Our Research

We enjoy sharing what we have learned through our work with teachers in our research publications.

Our Team
